Houston Bulls Announce Nathan Oystrick as Inaugural Head Coach

HOUSTON, TX – Houston Bulls General Manager Nick Fabrizio announced today that Nathan Oystrick has been named the team’s new Head Coach.

“We are proud to welcome Nathan Oystrick to Houston as our new Head Coach. Nathan’s professional background and his track record of developing talent with the Wausau Cyclones make him the perfect fit for this organization. We are excited to begin this new chapter of Houston Bulls hockey.”

A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Oystrick comes to Houston following a storied playing and coaching career. Oystrick was a three-year captain for Northern Michigan in the NCAA before beginning his  professional career. Throughout his time as a pro, Oystrick saw action in over 300 AHL games, and in 65 NHL contests. In his professional career, Oystrick recorded 246 points (74+172) in 489 professional games between the NHL, AHL, and KHL.

Following his playing career, Oystrick began an acclaimed coaching journey, spending the past ten seasons behind the benches of several premier organizations, including the Elmira Jackals and Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL. Oystrick then made the jump to junior hockey, where he spent time with the Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL in 2018-19, before spending the past four seasons as the Head Coach of the Wausau Cyclones of the NA3HL. Oystrick was named the NA3HL Coach of the Year after leading the Cyclones to a 36-10-0-1 record in the 2023-24 campaign.
